Contractor Safety Policy

Policy Aim

DGM Australia Pty Ltd recognizes our "Duty of Care" to contractors. In particular, our responsibility to ensure so far as is reasonable practical, that any hazard or risk under our control is disclosed to contractors and appropriately managed to ensure legislative standards relating to health, safety and environmental (HSE) are maintained.

It is also recognized that contractors can have a negative impact on the health and safety of DGM staff, visitors and the environment.

The aim of this policy is to:

  • inform contractors of any HSE hazards or risks known to DGM or under our control, that may pose a threat to the contractor’s health and safety or to the environment;
  • manage HSE hazards and risks under DGM’s control that may impact upon HSE standards;
  • ensure all contractors have completed a work method statement that details how they will meet HSE standards; and
  • monitor the HSE performance of contractors.

Scope

This policy and its associated procedures applies to contractors undertaking projects or works for or on behalf of DGM that do not involve construction work, specified work, or costs of a substantial nature (total project costs greater than $40,000). Works or projects that fall outside the scope of this policy must be referred to the DGM National HSE Co-ordinator for assessment and approval.
